Christian activity finds its nourishment in the liturgy and the celebration of the sacraments.
"Catechism of the Catholic Church", 2047
"...Christ is always present in his Church, especially in her liturgical celebrations. He is present in the Sacrifice of the Mass not only in the person of his minister, but especially in the Eucharistic species. By his power he is present in the sacraments so that when anybody baptizes, it is really Christ himself who baptizes. He is present in his word since it is he himself who speaks when the holy Scriptures are read in the Church. Lastly, he is present when the Church prays and sings, for he has promised
'where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them."
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1088
If you or a loved one is sick or shut in and not able to be physically present at Church on Sunday you may view Sunday TV Mass, produced by The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington (ADW) since 1952. The TV Mass is filmed in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It is a wonderful ministry for those members of our Catholic family who are unable to be physically present with a local worshipping community for the Sunday Eucharistic Liturgy.
