Social Concerns touches the lives of its Saint Paul parishioners, the local community and globally. The Social Concerns Ministry is rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the teaching of the Catholic Church. The church teaches us that we must proclaim the transcendent message of the gospel and help:
Bring "good news to the poor" in a society where millions lack the necessities of life;
Bring "liberty to captives" when so many are enslaved by poverty, addiction, ignorance, discrimination, violence, or disabling conditions;
Bring "new sight to the blind" in a culture where the excessive pursuit of power or pleasure can spiritually blind us to the dignity and rights of others; and
"set the downtrodden free" in communities where family disintegration, and economic and moral forces leave people without real hope (cf. Lk 4:18).
(communities of salt and light)
Social Concerns is committed to serving our parish and community through it's outreach ministries including: direct outreach, Saint Paul Clinic in Honduras, Gospel of Life, and Pastoral Care . We are also part of community programs such as Damascus Help (http://www.damascushelp.org/) and Faith Connections (http://www.faith-connections.org/). We are called to reach out to all people with compassion and love.
