Faith Formation

Middle School Program Description

Mass Participating in the Eucharistic life of the community is both a privilege and an obligation of baptized Catholics. This is also an important way that parents demonstrate to their children the importance they place on the faith they are handing on to their children. When we worship as a community, we build up the Body of Christ.

Catechetical sessions held 2 times per month for 2 hours at Saint Paul. These will include education, prayer, fellowship, snack and social time. Bi monthly catechetical sessions are held at Saint Paul on:

Sundays – 2:45 to 4:45
Wednesdays – 6:30 to 8:30
Thursdays – 4:30 to 6:30

Our middle school youth are expressing themselves at each session by planning and serving at our Prayer Gatherings. Each class is assigned a session. Parents are encouraged to discuss this with their child and to attend to see what great things they are accomplishing as leaders of prayer. It is our hope that our youth will find a connection with Mass, our Greatest Prayer!

Retreats held 4 times per year for a ½ day. Retreats provide a unique opportunity for youth to spend an extended time in discernment and reflect on their relationship with God and their faith life. We encourage attendance of at last one retreat each year. Retreats help us discover and broaden our spirituality.

Social justice outings/activities held during the year. An awareness of the importance of and vital need for performing service to others is critical in preparing candidates for Confirmation. Throughout Scripture we are called to love our neighbor and stand up for justice and peace. Since service and justice are so important to who we are as Catholic Christians, we ask that the candidates make his/her service projects(link to service opps page) a priority. Serving others is not something we do “to get it over with”. It is something we do because we recognize the presence of Jesus in all persons and in all of God’s creation. Therefore, it is encouraged that the candidates get involved in a new service activity which is an ongoing and a regular commitment.

Social gatherings offered monthly. Social activities provide an opportunity for our teens to come together for fellowship, companionship, support and fun! There will be many events offered during the course of the year, so be sure to check the monthly newsletter/bulletin for upcoming events! We ask for attendance at a minimum of one social event each year.

Confirmation preparation will take place within this program.
